I just wanted to give you my thanks for being part of JellyChip. This is an exciting time to be developing a social network with a real world difference, so thanks. I just spent last night thinking about the potential of JellyChip and it is truly unlimited. When the new site launches, and when people understand that they perform free charity on the site, the opportunities are endless. Imagine a world connected to JellyChip that helps to solve some of the world’s biggest problems. Education disparity in first world nations, lack of food in developing nations, the ebola crisis, hurricanes in the Philippines, we can fix everything. JellyChip has the power to fix everything online.
We have the potential to heal the world. And that is a mindblowing thing.
I want to talk about our new Friend and Chat Chips today and explain what truly makes our social network, social. Now it’s important to cover the evolutions of these two Chips because they allow JellyChip to connect everyone together.
In the truest sense of the word, JellyChip is a social network. Yet JellyChip is pushing the boundaries about what we consider a social network and things need to change in this regard. The phrase “social network” was largely founded on Facebook’s beliefs in terms of connecting people, but it is JellyChip’s mission to redefine this again. From the past of cluttered homepages and user interfaces, to a future of complete simplicity. We want to align closer to this strategy that a social network should be simple.
Back to our ethos of simplicity, it has been important for us to separate all the elements of social networking into their respective parts. JellyChip version 2 goes one step further and truly separates the social networking experience into its respective Chips. As per the first pillar of JellyChip v2, a better UI, we have achieved this and made the two social elements of JellyChip – the Friends Chip and the Chat Chip – into Feeds of their own. Long gone is the large Friends Page (a tab under the Profile Page), and the small Chip Feed. We have now made the Friends Chip a Feed and the Chat Chip a Feed respectively.
Let’s explore this a little more.
The new Friend’s Feed pops up when a user clicks the Friends Chip. Here they will be able to see friend requests and also their existing friends. For each of their friends they will also be able to see the number of their friends on JellyChip and their points, which is fantastic. In this improved UI, a user can scroll through their friend’s list at the tap of a button and find who they’re looking for – or explore what their friends have been doing.
Users will also be able to search for their friends, as per the below image.
And if they can’t find their friends on JellyChip, users can now invite them! By the same token, users can now quickly invite their friends for 50 points each via email or by inviting their contacts from an email address. They will arrive at the below screen by tapping the invite icon next to the Friends header. This is really special and I believe is a huge part of attracting users to JellyChip. When a user sees how many points they can earn through bringing their friends to the party, in a really simple and easy way, I believe we’ll be able to grow JellyChip quicker. And make a global difference faster.
Now if I wanted to see a friend’s profile from my friends list all I need to do is now tap that friend’s profile. In the below image you will see I have clicked on my friend Samantha and I can view her profile, just in the same way as I can view my own profile. I can see what gifts she’s been buying, how many points she owns, her title on JellyChip (so cool) and her friends. I can even click her Friends Icon to see her own friends list. This is a really simple way to do networking and one which is much faster and elegant than the competition.
Also, as per the previous blog post on the new Profile Chip, we have a Daily Quest for the Friend’s Chip too. This will scale according to your level but we will encourage you to invite a few friends a day to JellyChip (and make friends on JellyChip) and we will reward you 100 points! Being social is more fun on JellyChip and we want you to bring your friends to the party to make a difference together.
And there we have it!
