Well we started working on two very important things today - 1) image upload in Chat and Group Chat, and 2) an Overall leaderboard to show everybody's progress.
Having approved the designs with the team today we started building the foundations for allowing users to finally upload images to their Chat. Now we've had to be careful since we don't want to replace Snaps - Snaps is a good way to send an impromptu pic to a Friend. We just want to allow users to upload photos that they may have taken a while ago. This brings us closer to WhatsApp which is a spicy thing. Side note: we can't replace WhatsApp but we can build the things that users want. Sending photos from their camera roll is one of them!
Next we got fixing up the final leaderboard for JellyChip - the "Overall" leaderboard. This will allow users to see where they fit in the leaderboard of the entire network for points donated. This is great because it'll allow users to actually see what ranking they are in the world. One of our main reasons for doing this is that it's very difficult right now to see where you fit into JellyChip, it's all contextual from the current gift leaderboards to your user profile. This should fix that and in spectacular fashion, it should also encourage more donations.
An Overall leaderboard will engender social networking and competition, two very juicy things. I for one would love to be ranked in the top 100 of JellyChip.
By the way, in order to achieve this, we've removed one obsolete leaderboard - the "Recent" leaderboard. I never actually used this leaderboard but it was designed to see who contributed to JellyChip most recently and how many points they donated. But who cares! Instead now we'll have "Current Gift", "Friends", "Country" and "Overall". This combination should take us well into the future of JellyChip and for when we make it some day.
So we've designed these two items and they look great. We're already deep in the code of both items which is sweet. Tomorrow I'll be designing a proper invite system - we've got such an awesome currency in points it's almost criminal right now to not be rewarding users for points when they invite their friends. We'll fix this with a neat QR code and design tomorrow, which should help us expand and grow beyond 34,000 users!
