Something I’ve realised over the past couple of months - a lot of JellyChip gifts get stuck. By this I mean that sometimes (at least once day) one gift will not get bought for 6-12 hours. The issue behind this is because there’s no sense of urgency in JellyChip.
That’s fine and no rush - be social and answer surveys as you go. But I think we need something that makes people donate faster, or something that switches out boring gifts if people just aren’t donating to them.
And that’s fair enough. Not everybody likes to be stuck on a gift, loves a particular charity or country of impact - so we need to keep things fresh. The worst thing I see is a network grind to a halt. And that sometimes happens to JellyChip - truth be told.
So let’s implement a timer. It will have the value 1 minute = 30 points. This means a gift that’s worth 2000 points will have 1 hour to complete. If a gift is worth 700 points it will have 23 minutes to complete. Points will be refunded to users if they contributed to the Lifeline gift and it’s unsuccessful.
This keeps the app active. It also means your vote counts more since gifts will rotate faster.
Keeping the giving going is a crucial part of JellyChip. We will adjust the gift timer values if people still feel it’s too easy or people feel there is still no incentive to give.
We might change 1 minute = 40 points for example.
