We’ve been really busy over the two weeks building a very special feature that makes a lot of sense for JellyChip’s users, and that is gift levelling.
Back last week I mentioned on social media that our recent feature drive has been on gift levels, user titles and trivia – and it’s important to explain a little bit on how gift levels works.
So we like to think of it like this – each user has their own particular flavour they bring to JellyChip. Whether it’s a desire to focus on health gifts, a desire to focus on food gifts or a desire to focus on vaccinations alone, everybody is different. And the future I would like to have for JellyChip is one where users can explore each other’s profiles and see the progress that they are each making on JellyChip. Everybody’s different and I can guarantee that the greater the gift offering grows the more likely it is that users will diversify in their earning styles. It’s awesome.
It is also important to visually see the gifts a user focuses on and the paths they took to get there.
Enter gift levelling. I always said that we should provide a way to level gifts in JellyChip and “progress”, to consolidate the Profile visually and keep users engaged. Our previous profile had an array of gifts displayed on the feed, but it was clunky and ugly. Finally, we’ve got around to fixing the new gift progression into user profiles last week/this week and it looks great.
So in essence, depending on the types of gifts a user buys different bars will fill up for that gift on a user’s profile. Each gift has its own formula for levelling depending on its cost and type which makes things interesting.
If a user earns enough of a certain type of gift or fits a particular pattern JellyChip recognises, then the user will also receive a title to show off to their friends. But titles will come a little later.
For now users will be able to relish in the different patterns and choices they make in changing the world, and that’s cool. Each person is different and it will be interesting to see what gifts users level up more. Will it be the cheaper Polio Vaccine or the more expensive two sachets?
We have set about accomplishing five things in order to create this feature:
- Add the levelling logic for each gift. This is basically determined by three formulas.
- Changed the profile gifts page, added progress bars for each gift with the levelling logic.
- Added a page in the Profile Feed for each gift, so that a user can examine each gift’s progress.
- Updated the count formula to take into consideration each gift’s level.
- Updated the bought count so that users can see their overall progress.
This update has been a long time coming but it’s an important one. We should hope to have this implemented this week so that you can have a play around and let me know what you think! Users should feel valued for the impact they are making on JellyChip and I look forward to seeing that change visually represented on their unique Profile Feeds very soon.
JellyChip keeps moving in the right direction and I’m thankful to have you on the ride with us!
