So we’re spending today primarily on the Friends Leaderboard - as decided on by our list of priorities and the team.⠀
We’re all pretty exhausted but we’re keeping up the positivity and see how our actions are having a real positive impact on the community! We’ve got leaderboards now, a cool teddy bear offering points, and a much better stats page.⠀
We’ve also just switched our Health Category Friday to Cheap Gift Friday! I felt it, the team felt it, and our most addicted users felt it. Let’s make JellyChip rapid, fun and excitable for a few hours! And see what comes of it.
I’m sometimes hesitant to turn on/off gifts and have fashionable “days” - but I think it’s good to change things up ever now and then, and I hope the community doesn’t hate me for it.⠀
The Friends Leaderboard is going to be an awesome addition to the Overall Leaderboard. It’s going to sort your entire friend’s list by who has donated the most to successful gifts in JellyChip.
This will start to create some real competition between friends who want to be the best, who want to be the biggest givers.⠀
This is much more challenging than the Overall Leaderboard because obviously we’re scaling this leaderboard to account for your entire friends list. Our current limitations for the existing one help mitigate our server load - but our Friends Leaderboard will be an intense load on the system.
People might have 1000 friends and we’ll have to have a pagination system with caching and preloading to display them in their appropriate ranking .⠀
Anyway enough, we’re stuck into the planning of it today and then expect to have the feature ready by next Wednesday.⠀
I love features that bring people together and this is one of them. The community is the backbone of JellyChip - and I hope all these features (and all the ones we’ve created this year) eventually mean something for users. I hope you love JellyChip as much as we do.
