There are about 7 million children across the Philippines who are currently experiencing hunger and malnutrition, a reality amidst macro-economic stability. The most recent Food and Nutrition Institute (FNRI) National Survey in 2015 found that 19.9% of 0-4 year olds were clinically underweight, making it unlikely that the Philippines will achieve the millennium development goal of 50% reduction in underweight prevalence from 27.3% in 1989. APPEND is helping to fix the malnutrition issue among Filipino children by conducting medical mission programs in indigenous communities. This includes training parents on health and sanitation practices and providing vitamins to children so that they are better prepared for a good future. APPEND believes that a healthy young population is prerequisite to a prosperous Philippines. This gift pays for one child to receive vitamins in a remote community for one day.
This gift supports communities in the Philippines and costs 160 points on JellyChip.
The target charity is APPEND.
