Reaching the Unreached (RTU) has worked in rural areas of Midwest Tamil Nadu, India since 1974. RTU’s purpose is to care for the basic needs and priorities of the poorest individuals, especially women and children, and empower them towards a brighter future of opportunity and self-reliance. RTU runs a total of 13 study centers - two on site at RTU and 11 centers in surrounding villages. The program supports students aged 11 to 13 years old studying 6th to 8th grade who require remedial assistance or those who are keen to improve their results. The program is also open to children with special needs (physical and mental). This gift provides one meal for a student at a RTU Self Help Group. This school meal will ensure that the students have enough sustenance to study well after attending school all day.
