Manila City Jail is one of the most crowded jails in the Philippines. It is a jam-packed facility at one of the most congested penal systems in the world. There have been numerous documentaries over the past couple of years showing how densely populated and unhygienic the center is. This jail holds over five times the intended amount of inmates, holding some 3,800 prisoners despite originally being built for 800. The Philippines government has allocated funding to provide inmates basic necessities but this is not enough for all of them. In a month, HCFI provides 150 pairs of shoes for inmates who are terribly in need. This provides them a little more comfort as they wait in their crowded spaces for a court date, which may often takes years. This gift provides one of those pairs of shoes to an inmate in Manila City Jail.
This gift supports communities in the Philippines and costs 4000 points on JellyChip.
