There are 1,700,000 Burmese migrants in Thailand. The Thai Government offers little help with the education or other basic needs of these tribal children and they receive no support from the Burmese military junta. The Bamboo School is situated on the corner of a rubber plantation, 2km from the border in east Thailand, and was established in 2008. There are now 170 students at Bamboo School, with the campus being free for all students. For many of these children, even those aged 15, this is their first time at school. There are only four classrooms, only 3m x 3m. They do not have enough furniture, school books or equipment so the kids sometimes have to sit on the floor for most activities. This gift provides one school uniform for a child at the school so that they can study with confidence for a brighter future.
This gift impacts communities in Thailand and costs 3014 points on JellyChip.
The target charity is the Lasallian Foundation.
