Mt. Hagen is set amongst highland culture in a rural area, with some of the lowest literacy rates in the country. The more remote, the harder it is to access facilities, banks, schools, etc. Rebiamul pre-school was established in 2006 and targets three local poor and marginalised settlement communities through a variety of educational and recreational programs aiming to a create a place that is safe, interactive, away from the poverty of the settlements and encourages friendliness and acceptance. The center offers a sports/games program for young people who have dropped out of school to help them breakdown intertribal suspicions and lessen aggression. The pre-school educates up to 120 children each year in prep and kindergarten. This gift will provide one meal for a toddler - for many of the children, this will be their only for the day.
This gift impacts communities in Papua New Guinea and costs 118 points on JellyChip.
The target charity is the Lasallian Foundation.
