Hello everyone 👍🏻 Fear not, we obviously do not have a 20 min timer in each gift right now since they're not disappearing after 20 mins. We did this initially 2 weeks ago and realised that's it not ideal for more expensive gifts.
The positives are it would encourage us to invite our friends to the platform, to grow JellyChip because it would be very difficult to buy expensive gifts. This is a good thing as it would bring the community together - "come on guys we only have 12 mins left and we need to complete the gift." I also think through the difficulties of this 20 min thing we would come together as a community. We would see users voting for the cheaper, easier gifts. This gives some depth to our gift catalogue as it'll make the expensive gifts special and illusive. Another positive is that it would fix what some users were asking about a few weeks ago - "can the gifts rotate faster because I want to see the gift I like again?" A 20 minute timer would rotate 3 gifts an hour. I think it would bring the JellyChip community together and we need that.
The negatives are it would be impossible to buy expensive gifts RIGHT NOW. However, we have to understand that JellyChip is going to grow very big this year. Our target is to get one million users on JellyChip this year, and say 40,000 users per active gift - these gifts will complete instantly and continuously. Of course we also need to ensure we can manage our company costs properly and it will be virtually impossible right now to pay for 60,000 charity gifts a month - $60,000 per month (for example).
After all this is said and done though, we agree. We'll change the 20 min timer. Instead, we'll use a time but it will be contextual - based on how expensive the gift is. When the timer is launched it'll be 1 min = 100 points, which is easy. A malaria tablet costing 200 points = 2 mins. Easy. A fish pond costing 7000 points = 70 minutes. Easy. This makes things much better for JellyCitizens and makes things more fun for us!
So I hope that explains everything. Keep changing lives JellyCitizens and I'm super proud of all of you.
